from a session with Pierre Phalèse Selecetissima elegantissimaque Gallica Italica et Latina in Guiterna Ludenda Carmina 1570, sight reading through the book.

This is an early more complex dance suite where different dances are played on different models, with unification of the ideas in the final Almande.
This is an idea that much later entered development sections in Sonata form and symphonic design with multiple movements that are related to each other, but differ in character and key.
One can see that there is quite a connection from the early Parisian Chansons and street music to the refined symhonies of the Mannheim School.

Also, this suite really grooves and rocks. On my DIY Renaissance Guitar, this piece reveals a lot of the hidden potential of this type of Guitar. You can easily play chords with a few slide patterns, yet shred with the melody string. The mids are full and resonant. The bass has an octave that makes the bass notes sound bigger and adds sparkle to the mids.
The music is well balanced for this instrument. One can experience that it was an instrument mainly used as a rhythm guitar, but with some possibility to shred.

I will try to record some nice Chanosns as well.
